th Year Celebration of the Kahuku Public and School Library that theKahuku Library Bookmobile will be launched at a special 40
th year celebration to be held November 18,2008, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Kahuku Library.
Several years ago Turtle Bay Resort partnered with the Friends of the Library at Kahuku to raise
funds to launch a bookmobile program to provide for more access to the resources of the library for
people of all ages in the community. Through proceeds from silent auctions held during Turtle Bay
Resort’s Annual Seafood Festivals along with some private donations, including the donation of a used
van to serve as the bookmobile, the Friends of the Library at Kahuku began the retrofit project, making
the dream become a reality. The bookmobile will be officially placed into service on November 18th, the
40th anniversary of the Kahuku Library.
“This is indeed a great moment for the Kahuku Library”, stated Bob Boyle, Turtle Bay Resort’s Vice
President and General Manager. “The library services a 30 plus mile section of a narrow corridor of the
North Shore where many residents, from young to old, lack the ability to get to the library. This will allow
the library to come to them.”
Fran Corcoran, the Kahuku Library Branch Manger, is most appreciative of Turtle Bay Resort’s
generosity. “This project has been a priority for us for some time but we could not find funds for it
anywhere. Without Turtle Bay Resorts assistance we would not be able to have this tremendous
resource for our community”.
