Girls Water Polo To Start Playoffs

Kahuku will begin the “2nd Season” on their road to defending their OIA Championship in Girls Water Polo.  They finish the regular season undefeated at 13-0. 

The top 8 teams will compete in the  playoffs that will start on Thursday, May 1.

Kapolei, Roosevelt, and Leilehua finished 2,3, and 4 respectively and look to contend not only for the OIA Championship but for seeding in the HHSAA State Tournament.

Shvanthia Arilla of Kaimuki won the individual scoring title with 46 goals.  Mililani’s Valentina Knudson was a close second with 45 goals.

Cougars Keep State Hopes Alive

Tha game beat out the rain and the Kaiser Cougars keep their State Tournament hopes alive with a 11-6 victory over Campbell at Kaiser Field.

Campbell Advances Past Moanalua

April 23, 2008

The Campbell Sabers came back from being behind 3-0 going into the 3rd inning to defeat the Moanalua Menehune 8-7 in the OIA baseball playoffs.  The Sabers (8-5) will travel to the Windward side to play #1 East Seed Kailua on Thursday.

Keanu Kapana went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI to lead the host Sabers.  As the starting pitcher, he was relieved by Charles Kaalekahi in the 2nd inning.  Kaalekahi pitched solid relief going in to the 7th inning.  He got the victory.

Moanalua’s Reid Matsumoto had a monster game at the plate in the losing effort.  He went 3 for 3 including a homerun aned scored 3 runs.

A total of 21 hits were tallied in this game.

Te’o Leads 2009 Prep Football Recruits

The initial Top 150 rankings of the top high school seniors for next season were released by Scout.com.  Digital Sports Hawaii Top 25 player Manti Te’o out of Punahou ranked #2 in the West Region overall (Cal, Utah, Oreg, Idaho, Nev, Hawaii, Wash) and also ranked as the #1 linebacker. 

A Northwest Region (all states in West excluding California) was also published and Stan Hasiak (Kapolei OT), Dalton Hilliard (Punahou RB), and Billy Ray Stutzman (St Louis WR) are ranked #1  for their respective positions.

All seniors to be are considered part of the 2009 recruiting class.  Of the players listed, only J’Ray Galeai (Kahuku S) has committed verbally to a college (BYU) according to Scout.com.
