Laie, HI-The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team
defeated Academy of Art tonight, 80-64, in a non-conference game in Laie.
The Seasiders once again utilized the inside-outside tandem of Latoya Wily and Richelle Fenenbock to defeat the Urban Knights and improve to 8-7 for the season. The Seasiders are 2-2 in conference play.
BYU-Hawaii pulled away to a 41-33 halftime lead as Fenenbock, who finished with five three-pointers, went 3-3 from long range in the opening half.
Fenenbock finished with 21 points on 8-13 shooting and was 5-9 from behind the arc. Wily used her strong power game to tally 24 points to go with six rebounds and six assists. Mahina Gago connected on 3-4 from three-point range and finished with 12 points and three steals for the Seasiders while point guard Dara Tompkison dished out nine assists to go with her six rebounds. Felisita Ika also pulled down six boards to complement her eight points and Agnes Tuilevuka came off the bench to snare five rebounds and drop in nine points to go with three assists.
Levalasi Key scored 22 points, Caprice Hall 17, and Sondra Stilwell 11 to lead Academy of Art, who fell to 4-16 for the season. Key also pulled down ten rebounds. The Urban Knights will be a full member of the Pacific West
Conference next season.
BYU-Hawaii will face Chaminade on Thursday in Laie in a PacWest Conference game at 5:30 pm.
